Volunteer organizations ebb and flow in terms of the energy that the people who run them have available. In this case, my client’s sister club in Portland was unable to produce their annual Hallowe’en dance. Puddletown Squares took on the event in addition to their spring dance in order to prevent the weekend from being claimed by another west coast club. Puddletown would produce the dance for the next three years. The first year's site was put together quickly in Cinema4D using standard Halloween imagery. Easter eggs on the home page include the cat’s blinking eyes, and the poppy that contains a link leading to the web site of the clubs spring dance. The second of Puddletown’s Hallowe’en Dances. The image started out as a scan from the cover of a Lone Ranger board game from the 40s. The third year's design direction was inspired the classic Japanese movie posters for the movie Godzilla. I enlisted a friend who is fluent in Japanese to translate not only the promotional materials for the dance, but the Puddletown logo itself. This dance included a welcome newsletter and an order of one inch buttons for distribution to attendees.
